Mr. Hawkins is a seasoned Chief Financial Officer and the architect of the Planning+ tool, developed over the last 30 years and implemented in more than 40 companies with tremendous success.  His deployment of the Planning+ platform has exposed him to all aspects of a company’s business planning, financing, and value creation processes.  Advising so many different companies makes it possible for Doug to bridge the divide between a company’s needs and an investor’s expectations.

He began his career in financial systems and controls with Mobil Oil and Kaiser Aluminum. Subsequently, he has worked with both private and public companies in the Pharmaceutical, Biotechnical, Energy and Technology industries to close a large number of complex financings.  Over his 35 year career, he has held a number of senior management positions including, most recently, Chief Financial Officer and Corporate Secretary of Oculex Pharmaceuticals, where he closed two rounds of private equity and prepared and filed the company's Initial Public Offering through UBS Warburg.  In addition, through his role Enterprise Director and Advisory Board Member for NASA's Ames Technology Commercialization Center, and Commercialization Consultant to the Los Alamos and Lawrence Livermore National Laboratories. Doug has been directly involved in the creation of  new companies out of whole cloth.

He holds a an MBA from the University of Houston and a Certificate in Public Accounting, and is a Veteran of the United States Marine Corps.

Mr. Hawkins is the current President and a Board Member of Financial Executives International, Silicon Valley, a Board Member of BayCFO, and a Member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
